Reliance Jio is all set to begin its JioPhone Monsoon Hungama offer later today. The company has now introduced a new tariff plan of Rs 99 for JioPhone users, offering 0.5GB 4G data benefit per day, unlimited voice calls and 300 SMS for a period of 28 days. This new tariff plan joins the already existing Rs 49 and Rs 153 JioPhone tariff plans. Furthermore, the company has launched a new Special JioPhone Recharge Plan under the Monsoon Hungama scheme. The special recharge plan worth Rs 594 can be chosen at the time of exchanging the feature phone and according to Jio, it offers unlimited voice calls and data. However, Jio did not mention any daily data restriction in the statement it issued today. Nevertheless, Jio says that the total data benefit with this plan is 90GB, meaning it’s giving the newly launched Rs 99 JioPhone plan for six months up front.

The Mukesh Ambani-led company also revealed the terms and conditions of the JioPhone Monsoon Hungama offer. As part of the offer, a user can get JioPhone at Rs 501 by exchanging their existing feature phone. Jio confirmed that the Rs 501 would be refunded at the end of three years. Few more things worth noting our customers will get a new Jio 4G SIM card with the JioPhone, and for users who want to retain their old mobile number, they can do the same by opting for Mobile Number Portability (MNP) service.

As mentioned, a user must submit the old feature phone which should be in working condition without any damage/missing parts. Jio also stated that it would accept only mobiles that were sold in the last 3.5 years (January 1, 2015, onwards) are eligible for exchange. JioPhone or any CDMA or operator locked devices will not be accepted for exchange as the company will accept only 2G, 3G, 4G (non-VoLTE) mobile phones. Thankfully, Jio only requires battery and charger for a successful exchange.
